Yilmaz received his Ph.D. in 2008 from the Courant Institute, New York University, under the supervision of S. R. Srinivasa Varadhan. Before joining Temple University in 2018, he held various academic positions in the USA, Israel and his native Turkey. He does research in probability theory and stochastic processes (limit theorems, large deviation theory and its applications, random walks, diffusions and polymers in random environments) as well as on related topics from statistical mechanics, partial differential equations, stochastic optimal control, and population dynamics.
